Manual Lathe Machinist-2nd Shift

Job Summary
As our 2nd shift Manual Lathe Machinist, you will be part of our world-class manufacturing company, with a 90+ year history of producing essential machinery needed in vital industries.
This shift works Monday -Thursday, 2:30 pm – 1:00 am.
This specialized position requires expertise in traditional machining techniques to produce high-quality components from iron and stainless-steel materials. The role will work independently to machine parts to exact specifications while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Duties
- Set up and safely operate manual horizontal lathe machines for production operations
- Perform machine setups, including proper selection of cutting tools, speeds and feeds
- Machine iron and stainless-steel components to close tolerances as specified on blueprints
- Make adjustments and corrections during machining operations to maintain dimensional accuracy
- Conduct in-process quality inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Read, interpret, and analyze complex engineering prints and technical specifications
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning as required
- Collaborate cross-departmentally as needed

CNC Vertical Mills Operator - 1st Shift
40 hours a week
Non-exempt
$20.00-$30.00 an Hour
Job Summary
As our CNC Vertical Mills Operator – 1st shift, you will join our world-class manufacturing company with a 92-year history of making large industrial pneumatic conveying equipment – rotary airlock valves and feeders – needed in vital industries. We are seeking a reliable, skilled CNC mill operator with strong fundamentals and setup experience who can independently set up, run, measure, and troubleshoot CNC vertical milling machines while holding close tolerances. Experience with OSP controllers is preferred; FANUC experience is considered a plus.
We are a safety-focused, detail-oriented shop that values reliability, consistency, and craftsmanship. This role starts on CNC vertical mills, with opportunities to cross-train on VTL and horizontal milling machines as you become proficient with our products and processes.
Duties
- Set up, adjust, and operate CNC vertical milling machines to perform precision machining operations
- Machine parts to specifications using CNC vertical mills
- Align and secure work-holding fixtures, vises, rotary tables, cutting tools, and workpieces onto vertical mill tables
- Analyze part dimensions and measure tolerances using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators
- Study blueprints, drawings, and engineering specifications to determine milling sequences and operations
- Set up or conduct program edits (G&M codes) as necessary on CNC vertical mills
- Monitor feeds, speeds, depth of cut, gauges, dials, and digital readouts to ensure quality control
- Measure, examine, and inspect completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications
- Maintain vertical milling machines in proper operational condition and troubleshoot malfunctions
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production efficiency and address manufacturing issues
- Cross-train and run VTL and Horizontal Mill machines as needed.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary certificate in machining/manufacturing preferred
- OSP controller experience preferred
- Some FANUC controller experience preferred
- 3 years of experience working with CNC mills
- 1 year of setup experience preferred, including selection of speeds and feeds
- High School Diploma (or GED)
- Ability to reliably commute to onsite position
- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and drawings
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges)
- Knowledge of G&M code programming for CNC mills
- Understanding of speeds, feeds, and tooling selection for vertical milling operations
